Saturday, September 18, 2004 - Hello from the Zarephath Health Center,
I realize that I have not given you an e-mail update for quite a while, but things are going very well at the ZHC. We have been open from 10-2 on Mondays and Thursdays for one year now. We see anywhere from 6-12 patients per session. People hear about us through word of mouth or from their churches, and they come. The stories are fascinating, and we see that we can really make a difference. Many people are out of work, some caring for sick family members. They have no income and no health insurance--and we can alway do something.
We have decided to increase the availability of our services, adding Wednesdays, from 7-9 PM. The Zarephath Community Chapel is planning a family night--where there will be youth groups, prayer meetings and Bible studies. We thought that our being open at that time would be convenient for working families--again to show people that there are those who care. We have new doctors that are interested in helping out.
On October 10th, we will be starting our classes again at 9:30 AM on Sunday mornings-- in the modular building to the left and behind the Zarephath Community Chapel. We with restart the study of the book, Ten Essentials of Highly Healthy People, by Dr. Walt Larimore of Focus on the Family. It deals with physical, emotional, spiritual, and relational aspects of being truly healthy--and gives clear guidelines on how we can all be healthier. Please e-mail us at zhcenter@aol.com if you are interested in attending. The book is $20. and we can have one available for you if you let us know. As before, we will team teach this series--with any willing volunteer taking a chapter and presenting it to the group. We always have lively discussions and find that God has much for us to learn. Afterwards, feel free to stay for the 11 AM service at the Chapel where Pastor Rob Cruver gives us a message from the Bible.
One more thing. We have made special arrangements with Somerset Medical Center whereby anyone who is affiliated with the Zarephath Health Center and is uninsured, can get their lowest negotiated prices for services rendered there. The insurance companies have negotiated very low rates, and we will get the same consideration. We are suggesting that families donate $100 per month to the ZHC. This will provide help to those who need hospitalization and who have no means to pay. Donors will receive a donor card that will be recognized by the hospital. Our goal is to see the churches come together and fulfill the Biblical mandate of "Bearing one another's burdens, and thus fulfill the law of Christ." Contact us if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Drs. Alieta and John Eck
